Girls Generation’s fourth Korean album, titled “I Got A Boy” has finally been released. SM Entertainment has also released the official music video for the title track “I Got A Boy.”
While the dance teaser looked promising, I have to admit that the song disappointed me. The video itself looked great. I still love SNSD’s new concept, and the girls looked gorgeous. I also liked their choreography, which proved that SNSD are great dancers.
The song, however, was a huge mess. It sounded more like three songs randomly put together into one, and the transitions from one song to the other was just weird and out-of-place. It’s not a song that I’d like to replay, which is sad, because I usually love their songs.
On a more positive note, I really liked the vocals. Everyone, I mean everyone, sounded great, and considering Girls Generation’s usual bubble pop and cute style, they did really good pulling off the tougher image. They all looked amazing, especially Hyoyeon, who finally looked like she was in her own element and comfort sone. I think this kind of choreography suits her much better than “Gee” and “Oh!”
Even though antifans will probably see it as another excuse for hating Yoona, I actually liked the sound of her rapping. Obviously, she’s not a born rapper, and she wasn’t spectacular either, but she wasn’t awful, which I bet a lot of antifans will say. Sooyoung and Yuri sounded really great too. I’ve always thought that their vocals are underrated.
